With a belt attached to the engine, the rotor is spun within the stator to generate power. This process is what turns power from the engine into useable electrical current. The stator is composed of copper wires arranged to surround a set of magnets. When the magnets spin, the copper wires pick up a current which is then sent to the diode. The diode and the regulator are responsible for keeping the power leaving the alternator even.

There are 3 main parts of the Alternators. They are the Stator, the Rotor and the Diode plus Voltage Regulator. The alternator belt rotates the pulley, which further puts the rotor into motion at an extremely fast speed. There are one or more magnets in the rotor, enveloped in a twine of copper wire, inside with it keeps spinning. The copper wires are called the Stator. As already mentioned, the job of the diode is to convert the AC into DC.
